Meet our Coaches
John Hempstock
Head PGA Teaching Professional
John completed his PGA Australia Traineeship in 2011 at PGC after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Minnesota where he played in Division 1 golf. Originally from Dumfries in Scotland, John won the Scottish U18 Junior Championships and represented his home country at the U18 European Championships. With over 13 years of coaching and club fitting experience, John has learnt less is more when it comes to teaching his students.
Andrew McCormack
Golf Manager and PGA Teaching Professional
Andrew completed his PGA Australia traineeship in 2011 at Charlestown Golf Club in Newcastle. Originally from New South Wales, Andrew is the Golf Manager here at PGC, with 15 years of coaching experience. He has coached countless players, from men’s, ladies, and junior clinics, to private lessons that are approachable and never overly technical. Andrew’s professional yet practical style helps each golfer find their confidence and enjoyment. Since every golfer is different, he tailors his coaching to each individual’s swing.
Fabiana Yu
PGA Teaching Professional
Fabiana (or more affectionately, Fabi) completed her Australian PGA Traineeship under the guidance of John Hempstock here at PGC in 2020. Her extensive international golf experience, including playing on the European Tour and representing Argentina in the USA, brings a unique perspective to her coaching. She leverages video analysis with Trackman to refine your swing.
Emily Byrne
PGA Teaching Professional
Emily joins the team as a PGA Professional with five years of experience under her belt. She brings a simple and effective approach to her coaching, believing that the easier it is the understand the feel of your swing, the easier it is to improve. Emily is no stranger to PGC, having been a Pacific Junior before completing her PGA traineeship at Carbrook Golf Club.
Jordy McGarry
PGA Associate
Jordy is a passionate 2nd Year PGA Associate with over 12 years of golfing experience. A proud member of Pacific Golf Club since 2016 and part of the team since 2020, Jordy has competed in elite amateur events across Australia and now plays in regular PGA events around the country. His competitive background and real-world tournament experience bringing a fresh, relatable approach to coaching. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your game, Jordy offers personalised, practical guidance to help you improve and enjoy your time on the course.
